Parents keeping home clean

We all know how much kids love to play – watching your kids have fun at home is one of the great joys of parenting. However, we also know much they love to create a mess, and it falls on your shoulders to keep the place nice and tidy.

However, there are a few ways you can let kids enjoy playtime and yet maintain a clean and cozy home. Here are a few tips to help you balance fun with relaxation.

1. Find the Right Pillows – for Everyone

Let’s face it: you can try as hard as you’d like to control pillow fights, but they’re bound to happen. Kids love them and they’re a safe way for children to release energy and play.

However, you’re going to need pillows that hold their shape. Otherwise, you’ll go through several much faster than you anticipated, and you’ll have a mess of feathers to deal with.

You’ll also benefit from the improved neck support and comfort that reliable, high-quality pillows provide.

2. Rugs — Not Carpets

It’s expensive to line your home with carpet, and what’s more, it’s a lot of effort to keep clean. You can end up spending hours trying to get your carpet looking like it used to when accidents happen, like if your kid has spilled some orange juice.

But wooden or laminate floors get cold easily, and there’s the risk of your little one slipping when they’re running about. Rugs are an easy-clean and child-safe alternative to full carpets. They’re also nicer to look at than bland carpeting.

3. Add a Sofa Throw

Want to make your sofa the perfect spot for getting cozy, but also protect it from spilled juice and muddy hands? A throw blanket is just what you need.

Throw rugs are beautiful to look at, comfortable for everyone, and easy to clean. What’s more, the right throw will extend the life of your sofa by stopping the fabric from wearing as quickly – or if it’s already looking a little worn, it can give your sofa a new lease of life.

Keep your sofa snug, child-friendly, and gorgeous to look at. A throw can transform it from just another seating area to the coziest spot in the house.

4. Get a Stain-Proof Tablecloth

Spilled drinks and marks and stray bits of food are an occupational hazard for kids. Hey, they’re an occupational hazard for adults! But you can’t be spending all your time furiously scrubbing at the most stubborn stains on tables and tablecloths. Thankfully, there’s a quick and easy fix.

With a stain-proof tablecloth, all you need to do is give it a quick wipe down with a cloth, and it looks good as new. This way, not only are you always ready for company, but you get to enjoy your home that much more every day.

5. Bring in a Storage Ottoman

If you’ve lived in your home for a while, you’ll start to notice you’ve been slowly accumulating more and more stuff – with less and less space to store it in. And that means more things that playful children can knock over and break.

Clutter can also make your home feel smaller than it is, and keep you from relaxing and recovering after a hard day’s parenting.

One way to quickly organize is using multi-functional pieces of furniture. An ottoman is perfect because it looks great at all times and provides the critical function of keeping clutter out of sight and harm’s way.

Create a Cozy Retreat

Relaxation and fun don’t need to be enemies when you have rambunctious children. With a few minor upgrades, you can feel like you’re giving your home the makeover it needs to become the cozy spot of your dreams, and a joyful place for your children to grow up. You never need to settle for less!
