Curd Khichdi Recipe For Babies

Recipe Type: Toddler Food Category Khichdi Age: 8 Months and above Cook Time: 20 Minutes Prep Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients

Moong Dal – 1/4 Cup

Curd – 1/4 Cup


Rice – 1 Cup


Turmeric – a pinch


Ghee – 1/2 teaspoon


Cumin Seeds or Cumin Powder – 1/2 teaspoon.

Directions To Prepare Curd Khichdi Recipe For Babies
  • Thoroughly wash the moong dal and rice until the water is clear and let them soak for about 30-45 minutes
  • Take a pressure cooker and add the rice and dal with a pinch of turmeric for health benefits and for keeping the baby warm
  • Add about 3 cups of water and pressure cook till 3 steams
  • Open the pressure cooker after the steam is released and check the consistency as per your desired level
  • Take another pan and heat ghee
  • Add cumin seeds and sauté till they crackle
  • Add the cooked khichdi and curd and mix for 2 minutes
  • You may mash the khichdi with a spoon and if you want to thin it even further, add some hot water
  • For added taste, you can add some more ghee, though we’d advise you to strictly avoid salt till your baby turns a year old
  • Serve warm in a sterilized bowl
