Dr Chetan Ginigeri is currently Lead Consultant – Children’s Critical Care Unit at ASTER CMI Hospital Hebbal, Bangalore, India .

Coming from a Defense-Civilian background, he was brought up in close proximity to Army colonies and had a childhood with neighbours from all over the country. A student product of Kendriya Vidyalaya in 4 different locations yet the same culture.

His  MBBS in Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry was followed by a 3 year commando training in Pediatrics at    Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Two very vibrant, haloed and premier medical institutes in the country which transformed him as humans and readied him for  tough but exciting life of Pediatric Intensivist.

Narayana Hrudayalaya Bangalore introduced him to complex Pediatric Surgical and Liver Transplant world and the interest translated into his sojourn to King’s College Hospital, London, UK to learn Transplant Intensive Care.

Long hours in Hospital, fantastic teammates and exposure to all possible work settings from Government institutes to NHS, Corporate health care settings and an eventful Entrepreneurial journey brought about newer understandings in Team building, Administration Leadership, Health care economics and Family centered care.

Having life and death counselling discussions about sick children with their families on a daily basis, few pain points remained. Mainly the issue of preventable deaths due to unintentional injuries in normal children. And travelling in extremes of health care from Technology loaded ICUs to Community ; inspired him to start a journey to spread awareness on Child Safety – to teachers, parents and child care stake holders. Last 10 years of work culminated in a book PLAYFUL which forms the basic foundation on which future preventive community work will be carried out.
