Play is essential for children’s healthy development, which means it’s an essential part of every day. As per research 56% of children globally play outside for one hour or less each day. Celebrating and inspiring outdoor learning and play is Outdoor Classroom Day, where thousands of schools around the world take lessons outdoors and prioritize playtime on this day. Action for Children’s Environments or ACE, an NGO and a charitable trust in India, is encouraging teachers, schools and parents across India to take at least one lesson outdoors on Thursday, October 12, 2017, as part of this initiative. The United Nations High Commission for Human Rights recognizes play as a right of every child and The American Academy of Paediatrics states, “Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being of children and youth”. Let’s see how we can bring them out to embrace sunshine, fresh air and numerous other benefits associated with outdoor playing:

SLEEP or rather the lack of it, is one of the first indications for us parents that something might be off kilter with our children. Stress is almost a necessary byproduct of the world we live in, an expected ‘trade-off’ for our technological progress: everything faster, louder and at the touch of a button – mind-boggling progress in return for a sometimes boggled mind. As adults we are encouraged to put coping mechanisms in place to help mitigate its effects, to distract body and mind through physical and mental pursuits. This can be difficult for even the most mindful among us; for our children it’s harder still. The end result? Constant sensory overload can impact greatly on their mental wellbeing causing stress, depression, anxiety and sadness. More and more lie awake at night, unable to ‘switch off’ and many have a hard time letting go. In general children today sleep one hour less than we did 25 years ago.

Sometime around your 16th week of pregnancy, you will feel that your breasts have become fuller and your old bras are either too tight or are not fitting you the right way. If you would have noticed, sometime between 8 and 10 weeks into your pregnancy, you would have started to outgrow your bra size. Infact, increase in your breast size is amongst the early changes you will notice in your body, and they will continue to grow more in size as pregnancy progresses. At this stage, pregnant women must invest in some maternity or nursing bras – which will not only provide support to your growing breasts but also prevent them from popping and be softer on your breasts. Though a lot of women end up spending on maternity wear dresses, they ignore the need of wearing a proper-fitted bra. Wearing a tight, fashionable lingerie bra at this time must be avoided by pregnant women.
