    How Does Your Body Change During Week 7 of Pregnancy?

    The seventh week of pregnancy marks the beginning of the second half of the first trimester. Your little one is not smaller anymore, they are now ten thousand times bigger than they already were. With your baby’s organs taking their shape, you may notice specific symptoms kicking in and some lingering throughout. Here are the answers for how does your body change during week 7 of pregnancy?

    In addition to these symptoms, you may also notice insomnia. Coping with sleepless nights during pregnancy can be difficult, but manageable. Though not generic, insomnia may kick in early and linger throughout the pregnancy.

    How Does Your Body Change During Week 7 of Pregnancy?

    By the seventh week, your baby is the size of a blueberry, measuring about  1.3 to 1.8 cm in length, and 0.5 g in weight. You are in your second month of pregnancy. Now, the little one is trying to let the world know that you are pregnant.

    Here are a few specific symptoms that you may notice during week 7 of pregnancy.

    1. Back Pain

    In the seventh week, you may start to feel back pain. Your uterus is expanding to accommodate the little one. This puts a lot of pressure on the ligaments and makes them much softer. When there is pressure on your pelvis and lower back, you might feel back pain.

    What to Do?

    The following are some tips to overcome back pain.

    • Practice Good Posture
    • Sleep on your side
    • Try heat or cold massage
    • Try yoga during pregnancy

    2. Indigestion

    Indigestion is yet another gastrointestinal symptom of pregnancy. It is widespread, and there is nothing much to worry about. Increased HCG can cause hormonal changes which result in indigestion. This may also trigger heartburn.

    What to Do?

    Here are a few tips to cope with indigestion during pregnancy

    • You must keep yourself well-hydrated
    • Eat small meals several times a day
    • Eat soft and easy-to-digest foods
    • Fiber-rich food can help you beat constipation. Because constipation can be a trigger for all the gastrointestinal troubles during pregnancy.

    If your heartburn is of much discomfort, talk to your doctor. Your doctor may prescribe syrup to neutralize the reflux and give you relief.

    3. Cramping

    You may feel slight abdominal cramps during the seventh week. The baby is growing, and the expansion of the uterus with the increasing pregnancy hormones can put you under cramping. Usually, occasional cramping is not a cause for concern. But, if you observe continuous contractions, or dizziness that accompanies the cramping, consult your doctor immediately. Your gynecologist can reassure your well-being.

    What to Do?

    Here are some tips to relieve cramping or abdominal pain during pregnancy

    • Relax, and watch your posture while sitting and standing
    • Drink lots of water
    • Your doctor may prescribe an ultrasound to check for the baby’s well-being.

    4. Diarrhea

    Once you see those two pink lines on the kit, your mind takes you on a ride. You will start thinking about the baby’s well-being and can do anything for them. Adapting lifestyle changes becomes a major goal during pregnancy. This can result in some unusual gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea. In the seventh week of pregnancy, hormonal imbalances, and dietary changes can give you several visits to the bathroom. There is no significant cause for concern regarding diarrhea during pregnancy. However, anything concerning must be reported to your doctor.

    What to Do?

    Here are some tips to combat diarrhea during pregnancy

    • Stay hydrated
    • Include food such as applesauce, oatmeal, and banana in your diet. They help in absorbing the excess water and avoiding dehydration.
    • Contact your doctor if you experience extreme diarrhea.

    It’s not over yet, you may still notice a few symptoms from previous weeks (weeks 5 and 6).

    • Frequent Urination
    • Fatigue / Sleepiness
    • Nausea/ Morning Sickness
    • Food Aversions and Cravings

    You may also need to watch out for spotting and bleeding this week. Ensure not to ignore, and timely consultation can help you stay away from complications. Observe the pattern of your symptoms and report to your doctor if you notice them gone.

    Here you are! In the second half of the first trimester, just 33 weeks to go. The seventh week of pregnancy can be tiring, but if you are lucky enough, most symptoms vanish once you cross the first trimester. But there are a few more weeks ahead for you to sail through and get there. Keep up the good work, and you are doing the best you can for your baby. Do not worry if you are experiencing very few of the above symptoms. These are just generic and do not apply to all. Ensure to stay alert, and do not forget to contact your doctor when in doubt.
