Importance of Road Safety Rules and Regulations for Kids:

Kids are not mature enough to do things on their own so it’s the duty of their parents to teach them the safety rules while walking on the road.  Every year may injuries will happen with the children while walking or crossing on the road. Show your kids how to be safe on the street or teach them about the best safety rules when they were on the road. Don’t forget to remind them to walk on the side of the road. Ask them to look both left and right side of the road before crossing it, and make sure that they use sidewalks and zebra crossings.

    1. Know Your Signals

Ask your kid to explain why traffic lights are ad signs are important to them. Help them to know about the meaning of each traffic lights and what they exactly indicate.

    • Green means go on, you need to pass through gently whenever you view the green arrow.
    • Red indicates to stop the traffic, it means that all vehicles should stop until the signal got a green indication. There is also usually a timer that indicates when the next green light occurs.
    • Yellow, it simply means to slow down the vehicle and to stop. I
    • When we see a signal like a walking man, it means that the intersections in a very safest manner. It indicates when pedestrians are allowed to cross the road, and instructs approaching riders to proceed with caution and stop for the pedestrians.
    • Never cross the road if “Don’t walk” sign blinks or if the walking man’s image turns red.

    2. Stop, Look, And Cross

No matter where your child is going rather he/she is going to their friend’s home or going to take a school bus. They must have to cross the road or street, so you should give those instructions to cross the road safely. As compared to adults, children do not have that much potential to judge the speed and distance. That is why it is very necessary to give them classes on road safety. Here we are going to mention some points to help them.

    • The child who is lesser than ten years needs an accompanying person.
    • You should hold your child’s hand if he or she is under 6 years old.
    • First, look your right and left side and wait until it’s safe and then cross the road.
    • Always walk along a road or beside a road.
    • Never cross at turnings

    3. Pay Attention – Listen

Sometimes, we won’t be able to see vehicles coming to us while we are standing opposite to them. At such a time, most of the accidents will happen because of this issue. So, it is very important for us to increase our listening skills and we also have to train our kids to pay more attention to listening while walking on the road. It is vital that they are well aware of their surroundings. According to a recent study, every year thousands of pedestrian injuries occur because of our absent-minded walk. So, it is necessary to train the children to recognize the voice of an approaching vehicle. With this, they will be able to get the idea from where it comes and can take their safe side. Being unaware of one’s surroundings can be a very costly mistake, especially for your children, and so it is of crucial importance that they are able to listen well to their surroundings as well.

    4. Always Use Sidewalks

Another best thing we can teach our children about the road safety rule is to take the sidewalk on the road or street. Tell them not to stray onto the roads. Give them knowledge about the benefits to take a sidewalk. For instance mobility, safety and healthier communities not only this sidewalks also reduce the risk of pedestrian crashes. To keep your kids safer, tell them the importance of footpaths and ask them to use where they should be. They should also be extra cautious if the sidewalks have no railings, as it makes it easy for them to stray onto the road, and increase the risk of injury.

    5. Crossing The Road Only At Zebra Crossings

Help your kids to understand what a Zebra crossing is and when it can be used for their safety. Zebra crossing gives pedestrians the right way to cross the street or road. It is a great and effective way of organizing pedestrian traffic on open roads. Vehicle users have to stop when they see if any person is waiting on the side of the zebra crossing and first allow them to cross the road safely. Show your kids the image of the crossing so that they got to know what exactly you are talking about and what you want them to do on the road for their safety.

Learning of a child always starts from home, so it is our responsibility to guide our children what is good and what is bad for them. To teach them of all the do’s and don’ts on the open roads, and how to get from point A to point B safely and without risk. By giving them the safety road tips we not only prevent them from damage and unwanted injuries but also help them to increase their knowledge and awareness about the traffic rules. So push them to learn each and every single thing about traffic so that they can make their self-safe on their own. It is also good to take them out on a walk, and show them all of these things, including the zebra crossings and signs firsthand, and clear any doubts that might persist.
