Sleeping: Baby will be Sleeping anywhere from 14 to 18 hours out of the ever 24 hours. They will be just waking every 2 to 4 hours to just to eat. Specially on the second and third day of babies life, the baby might experience a long stretch of pronounced drowsiness designed to give the newborns a chance to recover from exhausting work of being born.
Playing: Baby can see objects only at 20 to 30 centimeters away i.e the distance to your face as you hold the baby in hand. Play gym is a good option.
Eating: Baby will be getting breast milk or formula only at the early weeks of the pregnancy.
Newborn Reflexology: Several reflexes exhibited by new born baby include the rooting reflex, the sucking reflex and the startle reflex.
Others: Attention span of newborn isn't very long.
Baby’s Health This Week:

uring the baby’s hospital visit the following things are examined:
Vitamin K injection or drops are given to enhance blood clotting ability.
Hepatitis B vaccine is given to the baby.
To screen phenylketonuria(PKU) and 34 other rare serious medical condition blood will taken from the babies heel.
Baby has to undergo list of newborn screening test that include Apgar test , a congenital heart disease screening , a hearing test and a blood test to look for at 21 serious genetic , hormonal or metabolic disorders.
It is important to keep watch of newborn Jaundice signs which will be showing up two to three days after birth and lasting a week to 10 days. Trying to feed a baby frequently helps flush it out of the system.
Things to Observe for Mom's:
First Poop after the delivery will be slow in coming as the stomach muscles have weakened & stretched and bowel itself may be reluctant to get back to work right away. Eating lot of fiber and liquids and little walking can help in getting to normal bowel movement.
Puffy Black, blue and bloodshot red Eyes are common among the new moms due to the result of straining the muscles of the face when pushing. But this is harmless and temporary and will disappear in a matter of weeks.
Two to five days after delivery the breasts become engorged and hard when the milk comes out. The breast engorgement will diminish within few days if your breastfeeding your baby.
Take care of the stitches if you had a c-section delivery.
Take proper care of baby’s navel and umbilical cord.
