A 9 Month Old baby can sleep for 14 hours a day, from 12 to 16 hours. By this time, 75% of the infants might begin to sleep through the night for 10 to 12 hours without waking up. They might take two naps daily for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Experts and pediatrician suggest that a baby can be sleep trained between four to six months. The reason is that it will be the earlier stage of development, and the children will quickly learn the skill of going to sleep without much help from you.
By the 9th month, the kids might get used to frequent wakings, mid-night feedings, and snacking. So, though you can still sleep train your little one, it will be difficult for them to adapt to the new changes.
Babies begin to sleep in longer stretches by the 9th month. But, if your little one is still a night owl and you are starving for sleep, you can consider sleep training. It is not necessary but a choice for the parents.
There are different ways of sleep training the babies, including – The Cry Out method, the Ferber method, and the Chair method. Though methods and approaches may be different, the ultimate goal is the same. Choose the one that best suits your little one and the family.
No matter whichever method you choose, you need to follow them consistently to see success. The kids will resist and confront for the first few days. But they will eventually begin to sleep in the long run.

Sleep regression is a phase where the babies resist sleep. They may find it challenging to settle down to sleep or may wake up frequently at night. These are temporary disturbances and will go away soon.
Sleep regression usually begins in the 4th month and continues till 8 10th months. This is the period where your baby is accomplishing some serious milestones, including crawling, putting up, and also the first words sometimes. Until they master these milestones, they might have a restless sleep at night.
The good news is that the 9th month regression is also temporary, just like the previous regressions. It will go away once the little one has accomplished the milestone and has become a master of it.
Nevertheless, you don’t miss following the bedtime routine. Also, do not introduce new habits or activities to your little ones when they wake up at midnight—for example, rocking or playing games.
