Ingredients Required For Basic Vanilla Cupcake:

  • Butter, softened: 110 g
  • Caster sugar: 110 g
  • Plain flour: 110 g
  • Baking powder: 2 tsp
  • Salt: 1/4 tsp
  • Eggs: 2
  • Vanilla extract: 1 tsp


  • Preheat the oven to 180 degree C
  • Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat preferably with an electronic whisk if there is no electronic whisk, beat thoroughly with a wooden spoon until the mixture turns pale and fluffy
  • Put the flour, baking powder and salt through a sieve into the bowl. Sieving is done to remove the lumps and large particles from the flour mixture
  • Beat the eggs and vanilla until it become fluffy and thick and triple in volume
  • Add this mixture into the bowl with flour
  • Fold in with a metallic spoon carefully
  • Line a muffin tin with paper cases
  • Spoon the mixture into the paper cases. You might have to use two spoons – one to scoop and the other one to slide the batter into paper cases
  • The cases should be filled about just above half
  • Bake for 20 minutes
  • Cool the cupcakes completely before adding the topping

Ingredients Required For Chocolate Toppings:

  • Icing sugar : 1 1/4 cup
  • Softened butter : 1/4 cup
  • Milk : 1 tbsp
  • Cocoa powder : 1 tbsp

Banana Cup Cake With Passion Fruit Topping

Ingredients Required For Banana Cupcake:

  • Butter : 125g
  • Brown sugar : 3/4 cup( firmly packed)
  • Eggs: 2
  • Maida : 2 cups
  • Baking powder – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Mixed spice powder : 1 tsp
  • Mashed banana: 1 cup
  • Sour cream: 3/4 cup
  • Milk : 1 tablespoon


  • Follow the first 5 steps of the procedure of normal cupcake. Add the mixed spice powder to the mixture
  • Add softened butter along with banana, sour cream and milk to this mixture

Ingredients Required For Chocolate Cupcake:

  • Butter: 100 g
  • Caster sugar: 2/3rd cup
  • Vanilla essence: 1 tsp
  • Whole eggs (lightly beaten): 2

  • Cocoa powder: 1/3 cup
  • Baking soda: 1/2 tsp

  • Preheat oven at 180°C

  • Self-raising flour: 200 g

  • Nutella : 375g
  • Self-raising flour: 150g


  • Pre-heat your oven to 160ºC

Ingredients Required For Orange Cup Cake:

  • Maida – 1 cup
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – one pinch
  • White sugar – 3/4 cup
  • Oil – 1/3 cup

  • Orange essence – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Orange Zest – 1/2 tsp (Dried and powdered)
  • Curd – 1/3 cup
  • Fresh orange juice – 1/3 cup
  • Orange food color – 2-3 drops


  • Preheat oven to 175 degrees C
  • Shift together maida, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Set aside
  • Blend sugar and oil together in bowl with an electric blender
  • Add in an egg to this mixture and mix well
  • Add orange essence and orange food colour
  • Add the dry ingredients to it
  • When the mixture becomes a little thick and hard to mix, add curd and mix well
  • Add orange juice and mix until everything is combined nicely
  • The batter is ready. Pour the batter in the cupcake tray
  • Bake for 10 – 15 minutes or until fully done
