What is Geritol?

Geritol is a brand of complex multivitamins supplements that are fortified with iron, and are known to boost energy and provide the all the vitamins and minerals that you may not be receiving through your diet. This multivitamin brand is manufactured by the pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline and is available in the tablet or liquid form. For many years now, Geritol has been considered as the ultimate fertility booster by some women who not only swear by it, but also have propounded a slogan ‘There’s a baby in every bottle’ in honor of Geritol. But does science support this claim? How effective is Geritol, truly?

Can Geritol help you get pregnant?

There have been no medical studies to positively conclude the correlation between Geritol consumption and increased fertility. In fact, even the makers of Geritol refute claims that link Geritol consumption with increased fertility. However, several women have experienced the benefits of consuming Geritol, with pregnancy as a clear moot point.

The medical and pharmaceutical fraternity has only one possible explanations for the linkage – a greater percentage of iron in the supplement. Iron, as we know is important to produce hemoglobin, it helps in increasing our overall health level leading to increased chances of falling pregnant.

What does Geritol do to your body?

Scientists state that Geritol is just a healthy multivitamin. In fact, Geritol doesn’t even qualify to be referred to as a prenatal vitamin. The key difference between Geritol and a prenatal vitamin is the greater percentage of folic acid in prenatal vitamins. Hence, scientifically and medically, Geritol should not be deemed a wonder drug as there is no medical evidence to link Geritol with increased chances of conception. Geritol, however, provides all the important vitamins and minerals that boost your health and mental state.

What Vitamins are in Geritol complete?

What is SSS tonic used for?

The SSS tonic provides you with more than your minimum daily requirement of iron and certain B Complex Vitamins. SSS tonic is typically prescribed in case the woman is suffering from Anaemia – a condition when there is insufficient hemoglobin the blood to carry oxygen to tissues and cells. The SSS tonic has high potency of iron and B vitamins that can make up for low dietary intake of iron and its poor absorption.

What are the side effects of taking Geritol?

Geritol does not typically have any serious side effects. However, some women ingesting the multivitamin could experience constipation, diarrhea, or an upset stomach. However, these side effects are temporary and may be experienced while getting used to the medication. These soon go away. In case they don’t subside or disappear, such women are advised a visit to their doctor. A greater percentage of iron in Geritol can make your stools turn black. This is, however, not an adverse side effect and does not cause any changes in your metabolism. It is but a simple outcome of the color.
In a very rare instance, does woman consuming Geritol experience a severe allergic reaction. The symptoms are rash, itching, severe dizziness, difficulty in breathing and swelling of the face, tongue or throat. Immediate medical attention is recommended in such cases.
